Powders made from iron oxides are the healthiest.

Hello Glow offers us a mineral clay eyeshadow.

You will only need 4 ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon of arrowroot

1/2 teaspoon of bentonite clay

2-3 drops of jojoba oil (or almond oil)

spices: ground ginger, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, etc. (choice of colours)


Avoid the following chemicals in regular products

Aluminium: neurotoxic, skin sensitizer

BHA: possible carcinogen, endocrine disruptor, possibly toxic to reproduction

Bronze: possible carcinogen, neurotoxic

Dyes (coal tar): carcinogenic, skin sensitizer, photosensitizer

FD&C Yellow n°5 dye: carcinogenic, skin sensitizer, photosensitizer and mutagenic

Dimethicone: eye irritant

Lanolin oil: allergen, skin sensitizer

Mineral oil: possible carcinogen, depending on the degree of purification, allergenic

Parabens: endocrine disruptors

Petrolatum: eye and respiratory tract irritant, sensitizer

Silica: possible carcinogen, irritant to eyes and respiratory tract

Talc: possible carcinogen, irritant to skin, eyes and respiratory tract

Eyeshadows may also contain heavy metals such as arsenic (carcinogen, irritant, sensitizer), chromium, cobalt, mercury (irritant, sensitizer) or lead (possible carcinogen, toxic to reproduction).
